Floating Wind Turbines: Centrale Nantes at the first FWP Atlantic Forum

Christian Berhault, Director of SEM-REV, Centrale Nantes’ offshore test site, is taking part as a demonstration expert in the first Floating Wind Power (FWP) Atlantic Forum, a three-day event dedicated to developing the floating wind turbine industry.

With the support of the Brittany and Pays de la Loire Regions, the first edition of the annual Floating Wind Power Atlantic Forum will be held from 12 to 14 October 2016. The event takes place during the tenth edition of Sea Tech Week, an international marine science and technology week, held at the Quartz conference centre in Brest. Site visits are organized in Pays de la Loire on the last day.

Christian Berhault, Director of SEM-REV, is taking part as a demonstration expert on Wednesday 12 October in Brest during the review of three existing international projects: Hywind (Norway), Windfloat (Portugal), Fukushima (Japan).

Programme highlights:

  • 50 representatives from 10 countries and 300 visitors expected
  • International roundtable debated on floating wind turbines: Maine University (USA), Hitachi (Japan), EDPR (Portugal), Statoil (Norway), SDI (Scotland) and Taipei (Taiwan)
  • Review of three existing international projects (Norway, Portugal, Japan), and presentation of French projects underway
  • Technical Workshops (anchors, floating structures, acceptability, environment, authorization and planning) and B2B meetings for market players on day 2.
  • Site visits on Friday 14 October at Saint-Nazaire and Nantes Bouguenais in the Pays de la Loire Region:
- Floatgen: Construction of a floating wind turbine - Centrale Nantes, IDEOL, Bouygues TP, Port Nantes Saint Nazaire
- Anemos: Construction plant for electrical sub-stations STX
- Presentation of NEOPOLIA
- Technocampus Ocean: Presentation of Technocampus Ocean, Weamec, EMR exhibition with FMGC and visits of IRT Jules Verne, CEA TECH and DCNS
