Within the framework of the national Plan 500 000', which aims to provide 500,000 training schemes for the jobseekers, and in order to address strong local demand, the Nantes Malakoff Employment Centre decided to put together and finance a 200-hour training course for Web developers.

Faced with a wide variety of profiles amongst the jobseekers, the Nantes Malakoff Employment Centre enlisted the expertise of a recognized training provider in the digital field, namely Centrale Nantes, which was able to help them define a practical course with individual monitoring.

The course, which was based on interviews by Centrale Nantes with web developers, startup directors and digital recruiters, was developed specifically to meet market needs and produce rapidly operational web developers. For the purposes of this course, the school put together a teaching team well-versed with the professional requirements and a course adapted to the heterogeneous backgrounds of the trainees.

Training objective: to secure employment upon course completion
Successful outcome for over 75% of the trainees. Less than three weeks after completion, 10 of the 20 trainees were in employment, 5 had received offers and 5 were still seeking a position.

Jean-Louis BRUN, age 54: The training at Centrale Nantes was well balanced between theory and practice. The pace of work, the teaching support, and the mutual aid amongst trainees all strengthened my determination and my self-confidence. I started at ADOC Solutions the Monday after the end of the course as head of the Technical Department, with 11 staff on my arrival and 14 today. We are growing quickly and we are always looking for Web developers for both temporary assignments and permanent positions. My integration into the company went incredibly well and I was able to apply my new communication skills on my very first day to improve my presentation to fifteen people in the company."

Through this project, Centrale Nantes and the Employment Center have demonstrated their ability to support skill development throughout a working life. The Employment Centre was able to offer job seekers, some of whom were new to the IT sector, quality training, funded and paid by the Employment Centre.

The next step is to produce a similar course under the auspices of the school's Executive Education centre and to design a programme for school leavers.
