The role of the Scientific Council:

  • Makes proposals to the Board of Governors as to the orientation of research policies and of technical and scientific documentation, as well as the allocation of research funding.
  • It is consulted on the following matters: the academic programme for higher and executive education, the level of qualification for vacant or requested teaching/research positions, research programmes or contracts, requests for accreditation to confer national diplomas, plans to create or modify establishment diplomas, and the institutional contract.
  • It acts as a liaison between teaching and research, particularly with regard to graduate programmes.
  • It produces periodically a scientific report of the establishment.

A sub-committee of the Scientific Council holds sessions to deal with individual cases relating to teachers/researchers.
