Master of Engineering in
Materials Processes and Technology of Composites (MPTC)



Objective of this Master

This master is designed to provide trouble-shooting and solution-oriented approach of problems encountered in composite applications, successively during the constituants selection, processing and mechanical design phases. Mostly fiber-reinforced organic-matrix composites will be of concern in this curriculum.

Such composites materials and structures are strongly influenced by the constituting materials and the processing stage. Therefore composite mechanical design can be efficiently and optimally performed when one has a good understanding of the manufacturing's influences and constraints.

Therefore the curriculum offered within this master program will provide a theoretical emphasis on the relationship between constituants, processing, process modeling and structural design. Through lab sessions dedicated towards characterization, manufaturing, process modeling and design, their links and interactions will be underlined.

Fields of applications:

The courses rely on theoretical and applied cases given by the course leaders. Fields of applications are numerous: from energy (wind, marine), trasportation (automative, aeronautics, rail, marine), and also niche markets such as sports and leisure or bio-medical.

Labs

The Master "Materials Processes and Technology of Composites" relies on the faculty and staff members, and on the scientific and research facilities of the GeM Institute "Institut de Recherche en Génie Civil et Mécanique"

About 30% of the Centrale Nantes students are international students.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science or Equivalent. (Students in their final year of undergraduate study may be admitted on the condition that their bachelor's degrees are awarded before they enroll at Centrale Nantes.)

  • Applicants whose native language is not English is required to pass a recognized international English test such as TOEFL (score 220 CBT, 550 PBT, 80 IBT), Cambridge Advanced English Test (score B or higher), IELTS (score 6.5 or higher), TOEIC (800) or other English equivalent test.
An applicant who carried out his study in English is eligible, passing a recognized test provides him more chance to be accepted (official confirmation letter is needed). The English test result must be sent before the deadline of application.


TUITION FEES

Non European students: €12,000

Centrale Nantes attractive scholarships are available.
Other scholarships from industries or governments are offered.

Organisation générale des études

The duration of the Masters of Engineering in Applied Mechanics courses is two academic years (120 ECTS credits). Each year is split into two semesters with 30 ECTS credits for each.

The courses are fully taught in English during the 2 years.


FIRST YEAR

The 1st-year study programme is the same for all the Masters of Engineering in Applied Mechanics even though the elective track is different.

Student can choose between 2 speciality tracks.
