This master is designed to provide trouble shooting ans dolution oriented approach of problems encountered in materials successively during the selection and shaping phases and in service conditions. Theoretical emphasis laid to apprehend the advanced material concepts in relation with the manufactring engineering.

The course relies on illustrations from industrial studies carried out bu the course leaders. The focus remains on materials in shaping and application environments with in depth analysis of mechanical and structural characteristics.

Langues d'enseignement

100% of the language of instruction and examination in English during the first year including 160 hours of French language courses.
During the 2d year, courses and Master thesis are either in French or English language.

Spécificités

Case study ranging from sport, bio medical and challenging severe environment conditions such as those prevailing in aircraft engines are eaminated.
Different materials ranging from metals to ceramics, polymers and composite are examinated.

Objectifs

The case studies below illustrate the pedagogical approach further deepened during the master thesis work.
Material selection:
How to define selection-of-materials criterions which are adequate with service contraints ?
What material properties for what application ?
How to evaluate material characterstics through mechanical tests and structural analysis ?
How to design parts with multi gradient materials for specific applications to respond to consumer demands (easy peel).

Laboratoires partenaires

The Master "Metallic assemblies and complex Composites" relies on the staff members and on the scientific and research facilities on the GeM "Institut de Recherche en Génie Civil et Mécanique".
