On June 2, 2021 All day

The JEC COMPOSITES CHALLENGE is a competition for PhD students selected for the quality of their research work in the field of composites.

The Challenge: 5 minutes to pitch their thesis using 1 slide.

Simone BANCORA, PhD student at Centrale Nantes, is one of the finalists in the JEC COMPOSITES CHALLENGE.

From Pressure to Geometry: a scalable method for realistic textiles reconstruction. We propose a method to reconstruct the architecture of a dry preform based on simple data acquisition. As the laminate is compacted, a pressure-sensitive film is used to capture the mechanical signature of the layup. Using this information the mesoscale geometry of the preform is interpreted..

The winners will be announced on 2 June 2021 (postponed from 4 March 2020 in light of the public health crisis).

The JEC COMPOSITES CHALLENGE is part of JEC Composites Connect (initially JEC WORLD - The Leading International Composites show). JEC Composites Connect is the online meeting place for the composites community. The first edition works as an online trade show, with digital booths, a conferences program, networking areas and JEC Group Innovation Programs.
