The President of Nantes Université is elected by a majority of the elected members of the Board of Governors. The president's five-year mandate - renewable once - expires at the end of the mandate of the elected representatives of the Board of Governors. Elected by and within the university community, he or she has the necessary legitimacy to lead the reflection on the objectives and policy of the institution.

The President is supported by a team of vice-presidents, including a student vice-president, who participate in strategic development, assist in its implementation and represent the President.
