Promote and encourage a framework for ethical thinking on the responsibility of research and innovation in sustainable development

Collectively defining ‘responsible innovation’ through a multidisciplinary approach combining engineering sciences and humanities.

The aim is to anticipate the positive but also negative effects that innovations may have on the environment and society, in order to potentially review the relevance or content of an innovation, propose a framework for its development, etc.

Objective

To organise a review within the institution of the long-term impacts of research activities.  

Key actions

  • Symposium on ‘Data: scientific tools and/or objects? A key issue for the future of healthcare and industry’ in June 2023.
  • Seminar on ‘Ethics and the Centrale curriculum: sharing experiences in teaching and research’ in April 2023.
  • Climate Science Society Workshop organised by Centrale Nantes and the CNRS's IRN GeoMech in March 2024 to find new directions towards a viable and resilient future.
