Centrale Nantes has been awarded the jury’s special prize at the 2026 Eco-mobility Awards

For this third edition, held on 23 June 2026 in Paris, SNCF Voyageurs recognised organisations that encourage more environmentally responsible travel amongst their staff and customers.

The Eco-Mobility Awards

Launched in 2022, this initiative by SNCF Voyageurs aims to inspire and share best practice amongst organisations committed to eco-mobility. This year, entrants were asked to address the following themes:

  • Overall strategy for responsible mobility
  • Business travel policy
  • Commuting between home and work & support schemes for eco-responsible mobility
  • Reduction and conversion of the vehicle fleet
  • Raising staff awareness of CSR issues and eco-mobility
  • Monitoring of mobility-related emissions


Centrale Nantes wins the jury’s special prize

Among the 50 entries submitted, Centrale Nantes won the jury’s special prize thanks to its highlighting of three strong initiatives led by the school.

Commuting between home and campus

By signing an agreement with Naolib, the operator of Nantes’ public transport network, the school benefits from additional fare discounts for its staff. Today, public transport and cycling account for nearly half of all commutes. A ‘sustainable mobility’ allowance has also been in place since 2020, and facilities to support cycling are available on campus (bike shelters, pump stations, showers, etc.).

Student mobility as part of the course

As part of international mobility schemes, travellers are asked to calculate the carbon footprint of their journeys and to outline the measures they propose to minimise it. A grant of €100 is also awarded to any student who uses the train as their means of transport.

Business travel

With regard to business travel, the platform used by the school displays the estimated emissions for each mode of transport to encourage staff to choose the train. A threshold has also been introduced to encourage the use of the train for short distances. Today, train travel accounts for 40 per cent of business travel at Centrale Nantes.
