The ÉLÉMENT TERRE programme, broadcast on France 24, was interested in the development of offshore wind power in France. In this feature, Bertrand Alessandrini, a researcher in marine engineering at the Research Laboratory in Hydrodynamics, Energetics and Atmospheric Environment (LHEEA) (Centrale Nantes - CNRS) took the France 24 team out to sea to see Floatgen, France's first and only offshore wind turbine, on site.

Housed on the Centrale Nantes SEM-REV offshore test site, the wind turbine was developed and installed by Ideol, Centrale Nantes and Bouygues Travaux Publics and currently produces the equivalent of the electricity consumption of 3,000 to 4,000 inhabitants.
