Centrale Nantes enters the new Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2019
Centrale Nantes is ranked in the top 200 of the world’s best universities for social and economic impact in the first ever Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings, which are published today. The University Impact Rankings measure global universities’ success in delivering the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This first edition includes over 450 universities from 76 countries.

Centrale Nantes is positioned in joint second place out of only nine establishments ranked in France. To join this elite circle, establishments are assessed by THE against eleven of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations.

- SDG 8 - Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all (10th in world ranking)
- SDG 9 - Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation (84th in world ranking)
- SDG 13 - Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts (top 200)
This ranking demonstrates the school's ongoing commitment not only to supporting sustainable development goals through our teaching, research and knowledge transfer, but also to embodying these goals in our internal practices, policies and procedures- Arnaud Poitou, Director of Centrale Nantes
The school’s entry into this ranking also echoes the recent "Shift Project" report, published in March 2019, on the teaching of climate and energy issues in higher education: 68% of compulsory courses at Centrale Nantes address environmental issues, and 64% cover climate and energy issues.
