Conference - What are the viable models for the fisheries system in the face of environmental and social challenges? with Frédéric le Manach

The next Ecological Transition Morning Session will take place on Thursday, 8 January 2026 at Centrale Nantes with Fréderic Le Manach, Scientific Director of the NGO BLOOM.

Frédéric Le Manach began his career as a researcher with the Sea Around Us project at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada), in collaboration with the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD) in Sète (France), studying in particular the fisheries agreements established by the European Commission with countries in West Africa, the Indian Ocean and the Pacific.

Currently Scientific Director at Bloom, he leads projects on various topics aimed at studying the flaws in the current fisheries system and devising more ecological and socially viable models. 

Bloom is an NGO that campaigns against the destruction of the ocean, the climate and small-scale fishermen.

The conference (in French) is open to all upon registration.

It will take place at Centrale Nantes on Thursday 27 March 8 January 2026, in Lecture Theatre A, from 10.15am to 12.15pm. 

What are the Ecological Transition Mornings?

Every year, a group of students following the Engineering for Ecological Transition option organises conferences on ecological issues. It is an opportunity to learn a little more and to debate with the key players in ecological transition.
