Nuclear safety: the answers to questions you might be asking

Jean-Jacques Ingremeau, an expert in nuclear physics and accidents at the IRSN (Institut de Radioprotection et Sûreté Nucléaire) will give a conference on the safety of nuclear reactors from 5 to 7 pm in Lecture Theatre S on 14 April. Also broadcast live on Zoom.

A major issue in the debate on nuclear energy is the safety of nuclear reactors.

  • What would happen if a nuclear accident occurred?
  • What is the risk of such an accident occurring?
  • And above all, what kind of accident(s) are we talking about?
We will try to shed some light on these questions by looking at some of the elements of the design of French nuclear reactors and the methods used to assess the nuclear risk. Some topical issues will also be briefly addressed (expansion of current facilities, risks in Ukraine, etc.) in order to leave plenty of time room for questions and discussion.

This conference will be presented by Jean-Jacques Ingremeau, an expert in nuclear physics and accidents at the IRSN (Institut de Radioprotection et Sûreté Nucléaire). The IRSN is the leading authority in France in research and expertise on nuclear and radiological risks.

Thursday 14 April, 5 to 7 pm in Lecture Theatre S

Broadcast live on Zoom. Q&A via the chat.
