2025 Edition of the Irène Joliot-Curie Prize: Applications now open

The Irène Joliot-Curie Prize aims to promote the role of women in research and technology in France. Apply for one of the four categories by 1 August 2025.

In the last 20+ years, the Irène Joliot-Curie Prize has recognised more than 70 women scientists for the excellence of their contributions across more than 20 disciplines.
The jury for this 24th edition will be chaired by Catherine Cesarsky, astrophysicist and member of the French Academy of Sciences.

The Irène Joliot-Curie Prize includes four categories:

  1. Woman Scientist of the Year
    This category recognises a woman scientist who has made an outstanding contribution to public research through the breadth of her subject area, the significance of her work, and her recognition both nationally and internationally.
  2. Young Woman Scientist
    This category highlights and encourages three young women who stand out through their academic achievements and research, recognising them as rising talents in their fields.
  3. Woman in Research and Enterprise
    This category honours a woman who, through scientific and technical excellence, is dedicated to developing innovations with significant economic and social impact, either within a company or by contributing to the creation of one.
  4. Special Prize for Engagement
    This special award recognises a woman scientist particularly committed to raising awareness among and guiding young girls — and young people more broadly — towards science.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday 1 August 2025.
