A warm welcome to our first intake of students to DREAM - our new Erasmus Mundus Joint Master

Two welcome sessions were held on 2 and 5 September 2022 for the first student intake on our new Erasmus Mundus Joint Master - Dynamics Of Renewables-Based Power Systems (DREAM).

on September 8, 2022

The first intake of DREAM students met with the programme coordinator Bogdan MARINESCU, the International Relations and the Automatic Control and Robotics Departments at Centrale Nantes, and came together online with the other consortium universities and the partner companies.

Over the two days the students were welcomed to the programme and attended presentations such as 'Challenges of future power systems' by Florent XAVIER from RTE (DREAM partner company) and 'New Trends in Renewable Energy Generation and Storage' by Horst Schulte from the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin.

The students will spend their first semester at Centrale Nantes and then pursue the programme in the other consortium institutions, and finally undertake an internship in research during their second year. They will graduate with the diplomas of each institution where they studied during the Master programme.

The partners in attendance:

  • Centrale Nantes
  • Universitatea Politehnica din Bucuresti – UPB, Romania,
  • Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – UPC, Spain,
  • Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft – HTW, Germany
  • RTE
  • OPAL

About DREAM

The programme prepares students to tackle the current and future challenges of smart power systems with a different approach. Core knowledge from the fields of Power Systems, Smart Grids, Renewable Generation, Automatic Control and Power Electronics is thus combined to give to the students the opportunity to acquire a global “system view” of the dynamics of next-generation power systems. All course units, naturally taught in English, are already mutually recognized by the consortium partners. Mandatory courses across the first 3 semesters will cover all areas of expertise in smart power systems. This new programme, which responds to the environmental and societal challenges of tomorrow, reflects Centrale Nantes' commitment to innovation.
